User research consists of 2 parts: personas and scenarios.
Personas and Scenarios
Cathy is a first year student and she is feeling quite homesick as this is her first time living on her own. She is studying teaching and likes to spend some time shopping or clubbing with her new friends. She has a bubbly personality but she can socialize easily and therefore she is interesting in meeting new people.
Cathy is just sitting in her class on Friday afternoon and feels a bit bored as all of her new friends do not want to go out tonight. She remembered she has seen a new dating web MeetMe that is not only for dating but for finding a new friends as well. By creating a new search she has found a girl in her town who wants to party tonight as well. She sends her a private message and few minutes later she receives an answer. Her new friend wants to go out.
John is now finishing his last year of Software development at university and feels kind of stressed and lonely because few weeks ago he broke up with his girlfriend. He is quite shy and do not like over-crowded places. He is looking for someone to who he can talk to and trust.
John is in library working on his final year project when suddenly he hears a notification from his mobile. A girl he has seen in library send him a message simple ‘‘Hi‘‘. John decided to text her back. Few days and a lot of messages later they had a first date in a café which was advertised at MeetMe website. They spend a lovely time together and after a couple of weeks they started dating.
Kerli is an Erasmus student. She is from Estonia and she has come to this city for 6 months because she loves history and she studies it as well. She is kind girl but a bit nerdy. She likes reading books and visiting historic places or sites. She would be happy if she can find any other Erasmus student interested in same things and who would be interested in visiting her in her motherland as well.
Kerli is just window shopping around the city. She decides to get a quick café in her favourite café. When she sits down and scrolls down the Facebook she can see an advert for a new dating website called MeetMe. She decides to create an account and upload her profile information. When she was examining this new website she found a group of foreign students in her city. She join them and after a couple of days she is invited to their party.
Darren is studying second year of chemistry. He would like to be a teacher but he finds it challenging because of his disabilities he has a wheelchair. He spends most of his time in a school lab and after school he likes to watch films in cinema or going to Chinese restaurants. He is looking for someone he can talk to and maybe if the spark is there a bit more.
Darren has just finished his experiment in a chemistry lab. He and his friends decided to go to the pub nearby uni. When going out he feels a bit pushed away as he is the only one with any disability so most of the time he is on his phone. In private messages he is texting a girl who is studying chemistry as well but at a different university. She ask him to go out and he agreed. At a voucher site he has found cheaper train tickets so he the money he have saved he spent to buy her a bouquet of roses.
